Cumbia

Song: Cumbia
Artist: Mexican Institute of Sound
Album: Soy Sauce

Here is a fun discovery, “Soy Sauce” is the third full length album from Mexico City based Mexican Institute of Sound, which is really just one guy, Camilo Lara who is a DJ and producer. Lara also has an impressive day-job… president of EMI Mexico. Joining acts like Kinky, M.I.S. is part of the blowing up Mexican electronica scene which is characterized by using traditional instruments and incorporating modern electronic elements. “Soy Sauce” is all over the map, but a lot of fun.

Their cover of the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” (as “Sinfonia Agridulce”) is more funny than it is listenable, but lead track “Cumbia” is a lot of fun. I’m digging the record.

Enjoy.
