Baby

Song: Baby
Artist: Kylie Minogue
Album: Love At First Sight

In honor of seeing Kylie Minogue on her first U.S. tour on Sunday (!!!) I thought I'd share this fun b-side from her most popular record here in the states, "Fever," which spawned her first top ten single since 1988's "The Loco-motion" with the crazy infectious "Can't Get You Out of My Head." "Baby" is typical, in a way, to other mid-tempo toss-off tracks that Kylie has put out on singles, or never ended up releasing, over the past couple years. Her last album, "X" also saw a litany of b-sides and unreleased stuff that never made it on there but her fans have eaten up. I find this interesting as aside from a track here or there, you don't see Madonna with a lot of extra tracks from her albums.

Looking forward to seeing how Kylie takes her typically huge stage production (possible in Europe, Australia, etc. where she actually has an audience) and scales it down for this first, small for her, U.S. tour. Wow, wow, wow, wow!

"Love at First Sight" is a dance-pop song by Australian singer Kylie Minogue from her album Fever. The song was written by Minogue, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher, Ash Howes and Martin Harrington, and produced by Stannard and Gallagher. The song was released as the third single from the Fever album in the summer of 2002, where it became Minogue's twenty-fourth Top 10 hit in the United Kingdom. The song was also nominated for the 2002 Grammy Awards in the category "Best Dance Recording", providing Minogue with her first Grammy nomination. It also won the MTV Europe Music Award for "Best Pop" in 2002.

It is unrelated to her previous recording of "Love at First Sight" from her debut album Kylie (1988).

The song and its music video were used in the 2003 North American music video game DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution.

On 28 December 2008, the song was ranked #634 on VH1 Australia's Top 1000 Party Hits.

Chart performance

"Love at First Sight" was released in the UK on June 10, 2002, debuting at #2, and spending a total of twelve weeks in the Top 75, and was also certified Silver for shipments of at least 200,000 copies and sold 183,810 copies. It also became Minogue's third consecutive release to top the UK radio airplay charts. The song received 3,116 plays in one week, breaking the record that she held previously with "Can't Get You out of My Head."

Outside of the UK, the song was also very successful. It reached the Top 10 in Israel, Hong Kong, Poland,Canada, Hungary, Ireland and New Zealand, and in many other countries while in Minogue's home country ofAustralia, the song debuted at #3 on the singles chart. It was certified gold in Australia for sales of over 35,000.

Due to favorable reception, "Love at First Sight" was released in the United States with a different arrangement mixed by duo Ruff & Jam. Minogue had previously found success on the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Loco-Motion" in 1988 (#3) and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" in 2001 (#7). "Love at First Sight" became her second consecutive release to reach the Top 40 on the Billboard charts, reaching #23. It also performed very well on theHot Dance Music/Club Play chart, where it became Minogue's second song to reach #1 there. The music video for "Love at First Sight" was shot in Dublin, Ireland on May 12, 2002.

Enjoy.
