Release
The single made its radio airplay debut in the United Kingdom on 20 July 2009, on BBC Radio 2. It will be made available fordigital download on 6 September, 2009 and released as a CD single on September 7 2009. Limited edition 7" and 12" vinyl records are also released on the same day.

Music Video
The music video for "We Are Golden" was shot on the 9th and 10th July 2009 in Elstree Studios. It was directed by the Swedish film director Jonas Åkerlund. The video is due to premiere on 4 August 2009 in the United Kingdom on Channel 4.
We Are Golden is the upcoming second studio album by pop singer Mika. It is set to be released on 21 September, 2009, under Casablanca Records through Universal Music Group.
Background
Mika worked with producer Greg Wells, who also produced his debut album Life in Cartoon Motion. The album was recorded in Olympic Studios, London, which began in June 2008 and later moved to the Rocket Carousel Studios, Los Angeles, in September 2008. Mika has described the album's themes as dealing with his teenage years. On 20 July, 2009 in an on-air interview with DJ, Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1, Mika revealed he is considering renaming the album, because he wants "something a little more ridiculous."
Cover Design
As with Mika's debut album Life in Cartoon Motion, the album art has been designed by Mika's sister (who works under thenom de plume DaWack), Richard Hogg and Mika himself. The artwork has been inspired by children's picture books from the 1940s to 1970s.
